mountain Synagogue
The design expresses the ideals of the Congregation and their intimate relationship to the mountain landscape. Their dream of a mountain synagogue was realized on 2.35 acres adjacent to Elk Meadow open space in Evergreen Colorado. This is the first synagogue built in Jefferson County .
The design carefully preserves existing trees and minimizes site disturbance, maximizes views, and provides privacy for outdoor gatherings, ritual and worship. Religious symbolism of the shofar and menorah is interwoven into the building design. The building consists of a sanctuary, social hall, kitchen, education center, and outdoor worship areas.
Marrying the Congregation’s unique values and building vision with the practical needs of the building committee‘s fundraising efforts was paramount to this project’s success.
